Waiver Wire Targets 2018 Week 4

The waiver wire is key to surviving this long season filled with injuries and other factors that could change a player’s role on their offense. Each week I will provide you with a list of players you should be looking to add off of waivers. Let’s take a look at some of those players below.

Teams on bye this week: Panthers and Redskins

Quarterback

Eli Manning – Giants: It has not been a great start to the season for Manning, but he has improved in each of his games, tossing 297 yards and two touchdowns last week against the Texans. This week he faces off against a Saints defense that is giving up over 30 fantasy points per game this season to opposing signal callers, as well as surrendering 345.7 passing yards per game with 10 passing touchdowns. Manning is owned in just 10.3 percent of ESPN leagues, so chances are he is available in your league. For those Cam Newton owners looking for a streaming this week, Manning is in a great potential smash spot. Even if you just need help at quarterback, he could be of help.

Others to consider: Baker Mayfield – Browns, Andy Dalton - Bengals

Running Back

Gio Bernard – Bengals: Chances are Bernard is no longer available in your league, but as of this morning, he is still available in 20 percent of ESPN leagues and for the next couple of weeks, he should be owned in just about every league as he continues to handle the workload for the Bengals backfield with Joe Mixon out. Last week, Bernard ran for 61 yards and a touchdown, while also catching five passes for 25 yards, scoring over 19 fantasy points in PPR formats. He has a couple of good matchups lined up against the Falcons and Miami who both have been generous to pass catching backs. If he is still available in your league, stop what you are doing and add him.

Javorius Allen – Ravens: Allen has scored at least one touchdown in each of the first three games this season, averaging 15 fantasy points per game in PPR formats. He has out snapped Alex Collins 47 percent to 44 percent for the season, accounts for 13 percent of the target share, 11 percent of the red zone targets, and 25 percent of the red zone rush attempts. Allen clearly has a solidified role in this offense and has been efficient early on in the season. With the bye weeks starting this week and injuries piling up, he could an asset to some fantasy owners.

Others to consider: Nyheim Hines – Colts, Wendell Smallwood – Eagles, Aaron Jones/Ty Montgomery – Packers

Wide Receiver

Tyler Boyd – Bengals: Boyd established himself as a primary weapon for Andy Dalton, catching 15-of-21 targets for 249 yards and two touchdowns. He has now scored in back to back games and has topped 20 fantasy points in each of those contests. He accounts for 18 percent of the Bengals target share and has played in 80 percent of the snaps this season. He trails A.J. Green in air yards by just eight yards and has a healthy 12 aDot. Boyd is still available in over 70 percent of ESPN leagues and that should not be the case. Make sure to add him because at this time he is producing like a player that should be started every week.

Calvin Ridley – Falcons: Ridley is coming off of a huge game against the Saints where he caught seven passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns. It was the second consecutive game that he found the pay dirt and he has now become a red zone threat for the Falcons, accounting for 15.8 percent of their red zone target share this season. With defenses focusing on Julio Jones, Ridley should continue to see the better matchups, which is something he should exploit most weeks. He led Atlanta pass catchers last week with 24 percent of the target share and is now tied second with a 14 percent target share for the year.

Others to consider: John Brown – Ravens, Sterling Shepard – Giants, Geronimo Allison – Packers, Mike Williams – Chargers, Christian Kirk - Cardinals

Tight End

Ricky Seals-Jones - Cardinals: Josh Rosen has been named the starter for the Cardinals, so Seal-Jones could become a busy tight end as young quarterbacks tend to rely on their tight ends early on. For the season Seals-Jones has played in 91 percent of the team’s offensive snaps and accounts for 17 percent of the targets share, so he is already involved in the offense. Arizona faces the Seahawks this week and I expect a lot of check downs to Seals-Jones from Rosen.

Others to consider: Austin Hooper - Falcons
