Waiver Wire Targets 2018 Week 12

By Armando Marsal
Armando Marsal The waiver wire is key to surviving this long season filled with injuries and other factors that could change a player’s role on their offense. Each week I will provide you with a list of players you should be looking to add off of waivers. Let’s take a look at some of those players below.

Teams on bye this week: Buffalo, Cleveland, Miami, New England, New York Jets, San Francisco

Quarterback

Jameis Winston – Buccaneers: Here we go again, the circus in Tampa Bay continues. Winston stepped in for Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was struggling against the Giants in Week 11, and was very efficient, throwing for 199 yards and two touchdowns in 16 pass attempts. The Bucs have announced that Winston will start in Week 12 against the 49ers, a favorable matchup, so this is a great week to plug him into your lineups. He was likely dropped in most leagues and should be considered a priority pickup this week, as he can produce QB1 numbers in most weeks (so long as he is not yanked during the game).

Others to consider: Lamar Jackson - Ravens

Running Back

Josh Adams – Eagles: Adams played 55 percent of the snaps in Week 11 (season-high), while accounting for 58 percent of the snaps, and also received 18.2 percent of the target share. He turned that into 72 yards and a touchdown, while averaging 7.2 yards per carry. He is looking like the best back on this offense and should continue to see a solidified role.

Gus Edwards – Ravens: Edwards exploded out of nowhere this past weekend for 115 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. After the game, John Harbaugh expressed his appreciation for Edwards and spoke highly of him. It is uncertain at this time, whether Edwards will receive this type of workload moving forward or not, but he is worth adding just in case. The Ravens have great running back matchups in the upcoming weeks against the Raiders, Chiefs, Falcons, and Buccaneers (as of late).

Others to consider: Theo Riddick – Lions, Jalen Richard – Raiders, Rex Burkhead - Patriots

Wide Receiver

Tre'Quan Smith – Saints: Smith exploded for 154 yards and a touchdown with 10 reception in Sunday’s win over the Eagles. It was by far his best game of his young career and he displayed his ability. The production may not be consistent every week, but he has emerged as the No. 2 wide out on arguably the best offense in football. In Week 10, he didn’t receive a target, but was on the field for over 70 percent of the snaps. He should be added in most formats at this time.

Josh Reynolds – Rams: Reynolds is no Cooper Kupp, but he posted a nice stat line on Monday night against the Chiefs. He caught 6-of-8 targets for 80 yards and a touchdown, and it appeared that he and Jared Goff had a strong connection. Reynolds should continue to have a role in this prolific offense, making him a strong add off of waivers.

Others to consider: D.J. Moore – Panthers, Christian Kirk – Cardinals, Anthony Miller - Bears

Tight End

Jonnu Smith - Titans: Smith was targeted eight times in Week 11, continuing his solid run over the last three games. During that stretch, he has scored over 10 fantasy points in each game in PPR formats. Smith is not someone I am thrilled to plug into my lineups, but considering how bad this position has been all season, he could be useful to those in need.

Others to consider: Chris Herndon – Jets
