In this Start Em / Sit Em column each week, I'm looking to find some fringe players that you might consider starting each week and comment based on their matchups. Early on, I'll base my selection of candidates on where they were with respect to ADP. I'm not going to try to pad my stats by suggesting your start Patrick Mahomes each week, but instead trying to dig deep and find some nuggets for players to avoid or to go after. These are coin flip guys and if I can finish the year at better than 60% I'll consider it a success. My metrics to get the start decision are: QB 20 pts or more, RB, WR or TE need to score 12 pts or more for a successful endorsement. Defense/Special Teams should put in 8 points or more to get those picks right. I'll look at ~3-6 players on each Thursday night's game and ~ 6 players for the rest of the week to get you going.

Player Pos Team Opp Start / Sit Comment
Carson Wentz QB PHI DAL START Dallas hasn't been able to stop anyone lately. Wentz has been solid, actually, and now his weapons start returning. Look for this to be an easy start decision for Wentz in week 8.
Joe Burrow QB CIN TEN START Look for Burrow to continue where he left off last week. He's getting comfortable with his receivers. This is likely a high scoring game.
Ben Roethlisberger QB PIT BAL SIT Ben has struggled to put in strong fantasy days lately and this week he gets Baltimore. Look for better matchups.
J.K. Dobbins RB BAL PIT START I'm going to go out on a limb a bit here. Mark Ingram is unlikely to play that will vault Gus Edwards into a volume RB play, but also should increase Dobbins snaps and they will need him more as a playmaker in the passing game too.
Gio Bernard RB CIN TEN START I'm assuming Mixon is OUT again, and, therefore fire up Gio again.
Bernard Scott RB PHI DAL START This is a great spot for Bernard Scott to get the start, he should be a strong play vs DAL defense.
Jamycal Hasty RB SFO SEA START Jeff Wilson and Mostert are OUT for this one. Hasty was the beneficiary when Wilson exited the game last week. I suspect he and McKinnon share the work, but Hasty will probably be the featured ball carrier. This assumes Tevin Coleman is another week away.
Jamaal Williams RB GB MIN START Another week with Aaron Jones it sounds. Williams should be in a prime spot for a fantasy day.
Wayne Gallman RB NYG TB SIT Gallman could get a solid workload if Freeman is OUT as sounds likely, but he faces a tough test with Tampa. If you find similar options I'd play them due to the tough matchup and potential game time decision for Freeman.
Brandon Aiyuk WR SF SEA START Seattle is one of the best matchups there is for the WR and with Deebo Samuel OUT, Aiyuk should be targeted plenty for him to put up a startupable number
