In this Start Em / Sit Em column each week, I'm looking to find some fringe players that you might consider starting each week and comment based on their matchups. Early on, I'll base my selection of candidates on where they were with respect to ADP. I'm not going to try to pad my stats by suggesting your start Patrick Mahomes each week, but instead trying to dig deep and find some nuggets for players to avoid or to go after. These are coin flip guys and if I can finish the year at better than 60% I'll consider it a success. My metrics to get the start decision are: QB 20 pts or more, RB, WR or TE need to score 12 pts or more for a successful endorsement. Defense/Special Teams should put in 8 points or more to get those picks right. I'll look at ~3-6 players on each Thursday night's game and ~ 6 players for the rest of the week to get you going.

Player Pos Team Opp Start / Sit Comment
Mitchell Trubisky QB CHI HOU START Houston has averaged yielding 345 yds and 3 TDs to opposing teams pass catchers the last 4 weeks. Trubisky is in a good spot.
Ryan Tannehill QB TEN JAC START Tannehill takes on division rival Jacksonville this week. With the Titans there's always a risk of an extreme run heavy script behind Henry. But, I like Tannehill to be efficient enough to get to a startable number in week 14.
Justin Herbert QB LAC ATL START Last week was a disaster for Herbert. Look for the rookie to put that in the rear view against the Hawks who have improved defensively since the coaching change. However, they're still allowing 255 yds and 2.3 passing TDs vs opposing teams the last 4 weeks and that includes 2 games against Taysom HIll who ran for 2 TDs in their first matchup.
Miles Sanders RB PHI NO SIT The Saints have been brutal vs opposing RBs. They are averaging yielding 73 yards on 3.0 yards / carry vs opposing teams the last four weeks. Sanders has some catch upside and as your likely top draft pick he will tough bench depending on your other options. Hurts starting also could help him, but I'd expect a floor game out of Sanders this week.
Mike Davis RB CAR DEN START Davis initially was a hot RB fill in for McCaffrey we he got injured but after a few weeks he cooled off as Curtis Samuel was integrated. However, with CMC out this wee again and Samuel slowed with Covid-19 he gets a great rushing matchup vs. DEN. I like his chances to convert a TD. Denver is yielding 4.7 yards / carry to opposing rushers the last 4 weeks.
Kareem Hunt RB CLE BAL START Baltimore is a bottom 8 matchup vs the RUN. However, Cleveland did have success earlier in the season running on Baltimore and in a game that Baltimore needs to win, expect more third downs from Cleveland and Hunt to be more active in a pass catching role than he has of late.
