Startem sitem 2016 week1

By Brad Kruse
Brad Kruse In this Start Em / Sit Em column each week, I'm looking to find some fringe players that you might consider starting each week and comment based on their matchups. Early on, I'll base my selection of candidates on where they were with respect to ADP. I'm not going to try to pad my stats by suggesting your start Drew Brees each week, but instead trying to dig deep and find some nuggets for players to avoid or to go after. These are coin flip guys and if I can finish the year at better than 60% I'll consider it a success. My metrics to get the start decision are: QB 20 pts or more, RB, WR or TE need to score 12 pts or more for a successful endorsement. Defense/Special Teams should put in 8 points or more to get those picks right. I'll look at ~3-6 players on each Thursday night's game and ~ 6 players for the rest of the week to get you going. This year I'm going to be looking at different ways to integrate daily fantasy pricing and Vegas odds into my decision making process. Good Luck this year!

Virgil Green TE DEN CAR START
Kubiak's system is TE friendly and Virgil Green has emerged as the starter this year. I think he'll get enough targets to be startable in week 1.

Kelvin Benjamin WR CAR DEN SIT
Denver has potentially the best cornerback duo in the NFL. Benjamin is still somewhat limited in practice coming back from his injury. The Panther WRs are suddenly deeper and they're still a run first team. Benjamin could catch a TD and put a startable number up, but it might take a TD to salvage the week for him.

Emmanuel Sanders WR DEN CAR

SIT This is Denver's new QBs first start and they'll probably have a conservative game plan in place. Look for a lot of ball control offense and you should look elsewhere for your WR3.

Brock Osweiler QB HOU CHI START
Chicago's secondary really struggles. I like Osweiler's weapons inlcuding Lamar Miller as pass catching back. If they chose to attack Chicago in the air, I like Osweiler's chances to put up startable stats in Week 1

Will Fuller WR HOU CHI START
Chicago's secondary really struggles. With the attention Hopkins will get, Fuller should have a good shot a long TD in this opening weekend.

Julian Edelman WR NE ARI SIT
As we all know, Tom Brady is suspended and won't be walking through the doors this weekend. It's a road trip for the Patriots and although Edelman will likely be the most targeted WR for NE it might be tough sledding as Garropolo logs his first start this year

Marvin Jones WR DET IND START
Jones has switched teams to the Lions and if reports from the Lions's camp are accurate he may be the number 1 target for Stafford. Look for a high scoring game and Jones to be very active.

Spencer Ware RB KAN SD START
With the news that Charles is very iffy for week 1, that puts Spencer Ware square in the must START category.

Michael Crabtree WR OAK NO START
New Orleans has tried to fix that leaky defense from last year, but I like Crabtree's opportunity to continue where he left off last year. You drafted him as a 3rd or 4th WR, this is the time to roll him out.

DeAngelo Williams RB PIT WAS START
With Le'Veon Bell suspended, DeAngelo becomes a must start in fantasy. Run him into your lineups if you have him.

Alex Smith QB KC SD START
In 4 games over the last three years vs SD, Smith has played without Charles twice (averaging 23.2 ppg) and with Charles twice (averaging 16.25 ppg).
