Sit Start Injury Report Sunday Morning Week 7 2021

Every fantasy manager knows that injuries can have a huge impact on a fantasy team's performance.

That makes properly navigating each week's injury report a must. To assist in this effort, this weekly article series will analyze the fantasy football impact of the Friday and Saturday injury reports.

The injured players are noted by player position and then their injury status. Out means the player has been ruled out of this week's contest. Doubtful means the player is very unlikely to start. Questionable indicates the player might start. Start likelihood is increased if a player has participated in practices that week, so practice participation levels are frequently noted in these posts.

Let's look at the Week 7 injury report. The initial edition of this article is generated following the league's Friday injury report. It is then updated on Saturday night with any injury changes that have been posted since the Friday update.

Atlanta at Miami

Atlanta injuries

LB Dante Fowler: Out
Fowler is the Falcons best pass rusher, and his absence will lower the upside of Atlanta's D/ST for fantasy managers who picked the Falcons as a bye week fill-in.

Miami injuries

CB Xavien Howard: Questionable
CB Noah Igbinoghene: Questionable
CB Byron Jones: Questionable
WR DeVante Parker: Questionable
WR Preston Williams: Questionable
C Greg Mancz: Questionable
The Dolphins secondary is not in good shape, as its top three cornerbacks are listed as questionable and had limited practices all week. This adds upside to any Atlanta wide receiver or Matt Ryan. Parker is a hit-miss candidate under any circumstances but being questionable and having limited practices all week pushes his case closer to the miss side, especially since Miami's starting center is in the same injury boat.

Carolina at New York Giants

Carolina injuries

WR Terrace Marshall: Out
T Cameron Erving: Out
Marshall is barely rostered in leagues and hasn't posted 4+ PPR points since Week 3, so his absence has minimal fantasy impact.

Saturday update: Erving is the Panthers starting left tackle and he was downgraded to out with an illness on Saturday evening. His absence adds some risk to the fantasy cases of Sam Darnold, DJ Moore, Chuba Hubbard, and Robby Anderson.

New York injuries

RB Saquon Barkley: Out
WR Kenny Golladay: Out
WR Kadarius Toney: Out
TE Evan Engram: Questionable
WR John Ross: Questionable
WR Sterling Shepard: Questionable
WR Darius Slayton: Questionable

As expected, Barkley, Golladay, and Toney are going to be out for this contest.

Engram was added to the injury report on Thursday when he missed practice due to a calf injury, but he did put in a limited practice on Friday and thus looks to be a gametime decision. The same could go for Shepard, Slayton, and Ross, as they were all limited in practice this week, so their fantasy managers will need to check out the Sunday morning inactives before committing them to lineups.

Chicago at Tampa Bay

Chicago injuries

S Tashaun Gipson: Out
DT Akiem Hicks: Questionable
LB Khalil Mack: Questionable
DE Bilal Nichols: Questionable
WR Allen Robinson: Questionable
CB Duke Shelley: Questionable
The Bears defense would be hard pressed to stop Tampa Bay at full strength, but with Gipson out, Nichols and Shelley likely out after missing Friday's practice, and having Mack and Hicks limited in practice this week, the doors could be wide open for a big day for the Buccaneers offense. Robinson has been a huge disappointment for fantasy managers and missing practice on Wednesday and being limited in the Thursday and Friday's practices doesn't offer much reassurance to place him into lineups this week.

Tampa Bay injuries

WR Antonio Brown: Out
LB Lavonte David: Out
TE Rob Gronkowski: Out
CB Richard Sherman: Out
TE O.J. Howard: Questionable
LB Jason Pierre-Paul: Questionable
Gronkowski's absence from the lineup could vault Howard to TE1 status, as Howard was able to practice in full on Friday and thus should be able to overcome the questionable tag. Brown being out should send more targets to Chris Godwin and Mike Evans against an injury depleted Chicago defense.

Cincinnati at Baltimore

Cincinnati injuries

Cincinnati has no notable injuries.

Baltimore injuries

RB Latavius Murray: Out
WR Sammy Watkins: Out
C Bradley Bozeman: Questionable
LB Patrick Queen: Questionable
T Alejandro Villanueva: Questionable
CB Tavon Young: Questionable
Murray being out should result in Devonta Freeman taking over the lead rusher role and ought to return Ty'Son Williams to the active roster. Freeman may have a RB2 ceiling, but that upside is somewhat offset by the multiple offensive line injuries the Ravens are dealing with. Young being out would result in an upgrade for Tyler Boyd, but Young practiced in full on Friday and thus is likely to play.

Detroit at Los Angeles Rams

Detroit injuries

LB Trey Flowers: Questionable
TE T.J. Hockenson: Questionable
RB D'Andre Swift: Questionable
Swift has been putting up strong workload levels the past few weeks while dealing with limited practices and questionable tags, so this week should follow that pattern. Hockenson did put in limited practices this week and thus has a shot at returning following a strong Week 6 performance (eight catches for 74 yards) that ended a three-game slump for him.

Los Angeles injuries

RB Sony Michel: Questionable
Michel should be able to play his usual role of backup who takes over late in a blowout, which could have some value given that this game has many blowout paths for the Rams.

Houston at Arizona

Houston injuries

C Justin Britt: Questionable
WR Nico Collins: Questionable
WR Chris Conley: Questionable
All three players have a good chance of starting since they did put in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, but they have negligible fantasy value even under the best of circumstances.

Arizona injuries

Arizona has no notable injuries.

Indianapolis at San Francisco

Indianapolis injuries

S Julian Blackmon: Out
T Braden Smith: Out
CB Rock Ya-Sin: Out
WR T.Y. Hilton: Out
Hilton did not practice this week and will likely be out for this game, so Michael Pittman, Jr. should see a few more targets than usual. Not having Blackmon or Ya-Sin should make the scoring path easier to navigate for Jimmy Garoppolo in his return to the lineup, so rate him as a high-end QB2.

Saturday update: Hilton has been downgraded to out for this game.

San Francisco injuries

QB Trey Lance: Out
T Trent Williams: Doubtful
Lance was already headed for the bench since Garoppolo is back to full strength. Williams is the 49ers starting left tackle, so his likely absence from this contest adds some risk to Garoppolo's QB2 case.

Kansas City at Tennessee

Kansas City injuries

WR Tyreek Hill: Questionable
DE Chris Jones: Questionable
G Joe Thuney: Questionable
CB Charvarius Ward: Questionable
Hill missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday but did post a limited practice on Friday and thus is trending towards playing. If Ward is out, it will provide a slight upgrade to A.J. Brown's fantasy production level.

Tennessee injuries

T Taylor Lewan: Out
WR Chester Rogers: Out
LB Bud Dupree: Questionable
S Amani Hooker: Questionable
WR Julio Jones: Questionable
Lewan sets the tone for the Titans offensive line, so his being listed as out is not helpful for Tennessee's fantasy prospects. Jones had limited practices on Thursday and Friday and should be able to play in what could be Week 7's highest scoring matchup.

New York Jets at New England Patriots

New York injuries

TE Tyler Kroft: Out
RB Tevin Coleman: Questionable
Neither Kroft nor Coleman have had much fantasy impact this season.

New England injuries

CB Jonathan Jones: Out
RB Brandon Bolden: Questionable
K Nick Folk: Questionable
LB Don't'a Hightower: Questionable
CB Jalen Mills: Questionable
S Adrian Phillips: Questionable
LB Kyle Van Noy: Questionable
The Patriots have a long track record of listing vast quantities of players as questionable, so the true impact of these questionable tags won't be known until Sunday morning. Having Jones out of the lineup does provide a bit of an upside boost to the fantasy projection of Jamison Crowder.

Philadelphia at Las Vegas

Philadelphia injuries

S Anthony Harris: Out
Harris is the Eagles starting free safety. He missed practice on Wednesday and Friday and therefore will likely end up out and replaced by Marcus Epps. That will be a coverage downgrade for Philadelphia and make Derek Carr and his receivers even better upside candidates than they were before this.

Saturday update: Harris has been downgraded to out.

Las Vegas injuries

Darren Waller: Questionable
Saturday update: Waller was added to the injury list on Saturday with an ankle injury. Saturday injury additions are usually a bad sign for that player's Sunday availability, especially when the player is in the late kickoff matchups. Fantasy managers need to have a plan B for Waller and may need to make a call early depending on their roster composition.

Washington at Green Bay

Washington injuries
T Samuel Cosmi: Out
WR Curtis Samuel: Out
G Brandon Scherff: Out
WR Cam Sims: Out
RB Antonio Gibson: Questionable
CB William Jackson: Questionable
Losing Cosmi and Scherff won't help an offensive line that has already been struggling this year. Samuel being out doesn't offer much in the way of starting value for his backups given that his projected targets will be split between Dyami Brown, Adam Humphries, and DeAndre Carter. Jackson could have lined up against Davante Adams for much of this contest, but Jackson missed practice on Friday, thus making this a week where Adams could be the highest scoring fantasy wide receiver. Gibson did put in limited practices all week and thus has a good chance of being able to play despite the shin ailment. If Gibson is out, J.D. McKissic will vault to RB2 status.

Green Bay injuries

C Josh Myers: Out
CB Kevin King: Questionable
S Darnell Savage: Questionable
King has been a coverage liability for a while now, so not having him in the lineup could be a net positive for the Packers. The same cannot be said for Savage, so Washington's passing game could see a projection upgrade if Savage, who was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday, ends up listed as out.

New Orleans at Seattle

New Orleans injuries

WR Deonte Harris: Out
QB Taysom Hill: Out
RB Dwayne Washington: Out
Hill had three rushing touchdowns in Weeks 3-4, so if he ends up out of this game, some highly valuable goal line carries could be shifted to Jameis Winston or Alvin Kamara.

Saturday update: Harris and Hill are now both listed as out for this contest.

Seattle injuries

RB Alex Collins: Questionable
DK Metcalf: Not on final injury report
Metcalf's missed practices look like they could be precautionary rather than an indicator that he is going to miss this contest.

Collins is in a different situation, as he may end up as a gametime call.

Saturday update: Metcalf is not on the final injury report, so he is good to go for this contest. Collins is listed as questionable. Pete Carroll says Collins will play, but that could be a smoke screen, so fantasy managers need to figure their risk tolerance for this given that it is a Monday night decision and Rashaad Penny will likely be active for this contest.
