Recapping the Injuries week 9 2016

By Armando Marsal
Armando Marsal As usual, I will review some of the injuries that occurred in the weekend and the implications they may have on your fantasy teams. Let’s take a look at some of the injuries that occurred this week.

Antone Smith – Bucs: Smith has been placed on IR with a knee injury and is done for the season. This is the fourth running back for the Bucs that has gone down this season. They signed Russell Hansbrough off of the practice squad, but Doug Martin is expected to return soon. Until then, it is a sticky situation for this backfield
.
Derrick Henry – Titans: Henry is expected to undergo an MRI on Monday after hurting his calf during Sunday’s pre-game warmups that kept him from playing any snaps on Sunday. This is definitely concerning because the injury was severe enough to keep him out of the game. We will know more on the severity once the results of the MRI are in.

Jeremy Maclin- Chiefs: Maclin entered this game with a questionable tag as he was dealing with a groin injury all week, but gave it a go. He aggravated the injury on the opening drive and never returned to the game. This is a situation worth monitoring this week and fantasy owners should have a backup plan ready to roll in case Maclin is not fully healthy or cannot give it a go in the Chiefs next game.

Darrius Heyward-Bey – Steelers: Heyward-Bey left Sunday’s game with a foot/ankle injury and appeared to be in a lot of pain. He will likely undergo further tests early in the week, which will give us better indication on the severity of the injury. What we do know is that he was quickly ruled out and looked to be in a lot of pain, both not good signs for his availability next week.

Victor Cruz – Giants: Cruz left Sunday’s game against the Eagles with an ankle sprain. He will undergo an MRI on Monday, but initial reports suggest that it is not a serious injury. We should have a better idea on his availability for Week 10 once the results of his tests come in.

Notable Players that briefly left game with injury, but returned:
Allen Hurns – Jaguars: Ankle
Ryan Fitzpatrick – Jets: leg/knee
Mike Wallace – Ravens: Illness
