Much like every week, unfortunately, Week 3 had some injuries. Some of the injuries could keep a player off the field for some time, others not as long, and in the worst cases it could be the season, but for this week, it appears we have avoided the worst case scenario. That said, there were still several key players that were dinged up this week.

Fantasy owners who lost players that are expected to miss significant time, adjustments need to be made and the waiver wire will be your best friend.

With that said, let’s take a look at some of this week’s injuries and the impact of the injury.

A.J. Green – Bengals: Green suffered a groin injury early in the second half of Sunday’s game that forced him to sit out the rest of the day. Initial reports suggest that he will be ready for Week 4. Chances are that the Bengals will limit him in practice this week, so we will likely not have an idea regarding his availability until late in the week. For now, fantasy owners should not panic and expect him to play. That said, it is never a bad idea to be proactive and have a backup plan ready to go in case Green does miss. Tyler Boyd who has emerged as the team’s No. 2 receiver would see a boost should Green miss.

Anthony Miller – Bears: Miller dislocated his shoulder late in Sunday’s game and did not return. The rookie finished the day with four catches for 35 yards. At this time it is uncertain whether the injury will keep him off the field for the Bears next game, but it is something worth keeping tabs on. We should have more information on this early in the week.

Jimmy Garoppolo – 49ers: It was a tough day for Garoppolo and the 49ers as initial reports suggest that Garoppolo suffered an ACL tear. He went down on a non-contact play during Sunday’s loss against the Chiefs and immediately reached for his knee. Ultimately he was carted off the field. These situations typically end in a season-ending injury, but nothing has been confirmed. He is expected to undergo an MRI on Monday and once those results come in, we should know whether he indeed suffered a torn ACL or not. C.J. Beathard would be the next man up for the 49ers.

Tyrod Taylor – Browns: Taylor suffered a concussion in Thursday night’s game against the Jets. While he is expected to clear the protocol, it appears that the Baker Mayfield era has begun in Cleveland. Mayfield stepped into the game for the injured Taylor and rallied the Browns to a comeback win. It was only a matter of time before their 2018 first rounder was the starter. He should be owned in all leagues at this time.

Evan Engram – Giants: Engram left Sunday’s game against the Texans with a knee injury and has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain and is considered week to week. The good news is that he appears to have avoided a serious injury, with that said, he could still miss time. For those who own Engram it is time to look for a replacement in case he misses any time. Sterling Shepard could see a bump in targets with Engram on the sidelines.
