Recapping the Injuries week 17 2016

By Armando Marsal
Armando Marsal As usual, I will review some of the injuries that occurred in the weekend and the implications they may have on your fantasy teams. There were some injuries that can be impactful as the fantasy playoffs have begun. Let’s take a look at some of the injuries that occurred this week.

Derek Carr – Raiders: Carr suffered a broken fibula that will cause him to miss the remainder of the season. It is a tough blow for him and the Raiders as he was having a Pro Bowl season. He is expected to undergo surgery on Tuesday.

Marcus Mariota – Titans: Mariota was carted off the field after suffering a fractured fibula/ankle. He will have surgery on his leg and is expected to have a 4-5 month recovery. He should be ready at the start of next season and hope to pick up where he left off in his impressive sophomore campaign.

Robert Griffin III – Browns: Griffin left Sunday’s game after suffering a concussion. He is in the league’s concussion protocol and would have to be cleared in order to play in the season finale. It is something worth monitoring throughout the week.

Carlos Hyde – 49ers: Hyde tore his MCL in Sunday’s game against the Rams and will miss the rest of the season. The good news is that he will not need surgery. Hyde should be ready for the Niners offseason programs next year and will likely head into draft day as an RB2.

Thomas Rawls – Seahawks: Rawls suffered a shoulder injury that knocked him out of the game. He is expected to get an MRI done to determine the severity, but initial reports suggest that it is not a serious injury. We will have to take the wait and see approach for this situation.

T.J. Yeldon – Jaguars: Yeldon left Sunday’s game against the Titans with an ankle injury and never returned. He was placed on IR Monday, ending his season. This was a disappointing sophomore year for him.

Donte Moncrief – Colts: Moncrief left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury and is expected to undergo an MRI this week. The Colts do not have anything to play for in Week 17, so chances are he will not suit up. This was an injury plagued season for Moncrief, but when healthy he displayed his ability to score touchdowns.

Tyler Lockett – Seahawks: Lockett suffered a broken fibula and tibia in Week 16 and will miss the remainder of the season. He underwent surgery and is expected to have a 4-6 week recovery. Even is the Seahawks make a deep run in the post season, it is unlikely that Lockett will able to play.

Kenny Britt – Rams: Britt left Saturday’s game after suffering a shoulder injury and was unable to return. It is uncertain if he will play in the season finale or not, but with the Rams not playing for anything, they may opt to rest Britt. After all, he is the first Ram since 2007 to reach 1,000 receiving yards.

Players that were injured but were able to play through it

Jay Ajayi – Dolphins: Shoulder
Robert Kelley – Redskins: Knee
DeSean Jackson – Redskins: Jaw
