Unfortunately, injuries are part of Football and pretty much every week, players go down. This week was no different. At times, some of the injuries are minor, while at others it can impact a player for multiple weeks, and even for the entire season.

Fantasy owners who lost players that are expected to miss significant time, adjustments need to be made, and the waiver wire will be your best friend.

With that said, let’s take a look at some of this week’s injuries and the impact of the injury.

Aaron Jones – Packers: Jones exited Sunday’s game against the Bears and did not return. After further testing, he was diagnosed with a sprained MCL. Jamaal Williams stepped in for the injured Jones and would likely get the start should Jones sit out. Being that this injury typically hampers players for a couple of weeks, fantasy owners should not be counting on Jones in their championship round this upcoming week.

Frank Gore – Dolphins: Gore was unable to return to Sunday’s game against the Vikings after suffering an apparent leg injury. On Monday, he was diagnosed with a foot sprain and the team announce that they could shut him down for the year. If he does indeed sit the rest of the year, he would finish with the season with 722 rushing yards, 12 catches for 124 yards, and one total touchdown.

Lamar Miller – Texans: Miller missed the second half of Sunday’s game against the Jets after sustaining an ankle injury. On Sunday it was reported that the injury does not appear serious and that he apparently avoided a high ankle sprain. His Week 16 status remains up in the air, but it seems like if he will be able to suit up. If he does not, however, Alfred Blue will likely see a big increase in workload.

Ito Smith – Falcons: Smith aggravated his knee injury during Sunday’s game against Arizona. On Monday, it was reported that he is set to undergo knee surgery and will miss the remainder of the season. Devonta Freeman is not expected to return this season either, leaving Tevin Coleman as Atlanta's top back, with Brian Hill and maybe Jeremy Langford also in the mix.

Tyler Boyd – Bengals: Boyd left during Sunday’s game against the Raiders and never returned. He suffered a knee injury and after further tests, he was diagnosed with a low-grade MCL sprain. This type of injury usually sidelines a player for a couple of weeks, so although he has not been officially ruled out, I would consider him highly questionable for Week 16.

Keenan Allen – Chargers: Allen suffered a hip injury in Thursday night’s win over the Chiefs that prohibited him from returning. The good news is that the injury does not appear to be serious and he is expected to suit up for Week 16. It is something worth keeping an eye on throughout the week.
