Recapping the Injuries week 12 2018

By Armando Marsal
Armando Marsal Unfortunately, injuries are part of Football and pretty much every week, players go down. This week was no different. At times, some of the injuries are minor, while at others it can impact a player for multiple weeks, and even for the entire season.

Fantasy owners who lost players that are expected to miss significant time, adjustments need to be made, and the waiver wire will be your best friend.

With that said, let’s take a look at some of this week’s injuries and the impact of the injury.

Melvin Gordon – Chargers: Gordon left Sunday’s game against the Cardinals after suffering a knee injury. After further testing, he was diagnosed with a MCL grade 2 sprain and is expected to miss a few weeks. Austin Ekeler will step into the starting running back duties for the Chargers during Gordon’s absence and should be owned in all leagues at this time.

Marlon Mack – Colts: Mack left Sunday’s game against the Dolphins with a concussion and never returned. He will have to clear the concussion protocol in order to get back on the field. The Colts faced the Bills in Week 13 and if Mack is not cleared by then, we could see a committee between Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines.

Evan Engram –Giants: There were mixed reports about Engram on Sunday, but it appears he injured his hamstring during pre-game warmups and never stepped on the field during the game against the Eagles. The injury was not announced until after the game started. Rhett Ellison got the start in his place and caught 4-of-6 targets for 77 yards. This is a situation worth monitoring throughout the week, but regardless of who the tight end for New York is in Week 13, they face a tough Bears defense.

Andy Dalton – Bengals: Dalton suffered a thumb injury during Sunday’s loss to the Browns and was knocked out of the game. The good news is that after the game he underwent X-Rays and the results were negative, so he avoided a break or fracture. He is expected to undergo further testing early this week to determine if there is any tears. We should know more once those results are in. Jeff Driskel would be the starter should Dalton miss any time.
