Hunter Report Week 4 2017

By Dave Hunter
Dave Hunter Let’s get right to Week 4, and don’t forget I’m using DraftKings.com salaries. Cheers to you winning the big pool play!

QUARTERBACK

Top Level

Tom Brady, NE vs. Carolina Panthers ($8,000) – Brady is a cut above the rest of the field this week, so if you’re going to spend up at QB here you go. The price on Brady isn’t too bad actually, considering QB production week-to-week. The matchup isn’t the best, but Brady should be able to carve his way to another productive day – worth the $8K price tag.

Other choices: None

Mid-Range

Philip Rivers, LAC vs. Philadelphia Eagles ($6,300) – As awful as Rivers was last week, I like him to rebound in a big way for the Chargers. The Eagles traveling coast-to-coast is a tough deal on them, so I always take that aspect into account when building my lineups. The Chargers get home cooking and Rivers will feel comfortable and groovy as he tosses at least two TD passes and 300-plus yards. Don’t feel shy looking to Rivers in tournament play.

Other choices: Carson Palmer, CIN vs. San Francisco 49ers ($6,100); Ben Roethlisberger, PIT @ Baltimore Ravens ($6,000); Jameis Winston, TB vs. New York Giants ($5,900); Derek Carr, OAK @ Denver Broncos ($5,800)

Value

Tyrod Taylor, BUF @ Atlanta Falcons ($5,300) – Talk about an underappreciated and undervalued guy, huh? We’ve got value, production potential and a defensive matchup that is porous at times. Plus, Taylor can run in the pocket and throw the long ball. I love the dual threat in a tournament lineup, and I’d even play Taylor in cash games this week if I’m looking for value.

Other choices: Trevor Siemian, DEN vs. Oakland Raiders ($5,200)

Over-Value

Carson Wentz, PHI @ Los Angeles Chargers ($6,600) – Nah, not going for Wentz this week. Dude has been fantastic from a DFS perspective, but do we believe this week? I’m not. It just seems like far too much to spend on the kid. I’m passing this week.

RUNNING BACK

Top Level

LeSean McCoy, BUF @ Atlanta Falcons ($8,400) – The matchup is wonderful, as I’m sure you’ve looked into already. And, McCoy is playing superstar football right now. He is easily my favorite top level play and I’m willing to lead him into my lineups in cash play. The only issue is that he may be a pretty chalky play, so pivoting with one of the guys below could be the way to go in tournament play.

Other choices: Ezekiel Elliott, DAL vs. Los Angeles Rams ($8,200); Todd Gurley, LAR @ Dallas Cowboys ($7,800)

Mid-Range

Christian McCaffery, CAR @ New England Patriots ($6,800) – I’m rolling with McCaffery for the second week in a row in this slot. He was pretty successful for me and owners in Week 3, and I like to get a bunch of receiving action yet again in Week 4. I see the Panthers playing from behind in this game, which bodes well for McCaffery’s targets and overall receiving action. He’s a great value as well and a wonderful option to slot next to one of the above top level targets if you’re going RB heavy.

Other choices: Leonard Fournette, JAC @ New York Jets ($6,700); Dalvin Cook, MIN vs. Detroit Lions ($6,500)

Value

Joe Mixon, CIN @ Cleveland Browns ($5,700) – It seems that Mixon is now the new lead back for the Bengals with the recent offensive coordinator change. Mixon had 18 carries last week, and we shouldn’t expect to see anything different in Week 4 facing the Browns. This is an excellent time to jump on the Mixon-train. Don’t be surprised to see the youngster’s first 100-yard game and at least one TD.

Other choices: Derrick Henry, TEN @ Houston Texans ($5,300); Bilal Powell, NYJ vs. Jacksonville Jaguars ($4,600); Jonathan Stewart, CAR @ New England Patriots ($4,300)

Over-Value

Devonta Freeman, ATL vs. Buffalo Bills ($7,300) – The Bills are a tough defensive unit and I have a difficult time rostering Freeman at $7.3K. You can find better values overall and certainly better matchups. Move along.

WIDE RECEIVER

Top Level

A.J. Green, CIN @ Cleveland Browns ($8,600) – If the Bengals want to get back on track and pull out a win this week, they’ll need Green to give a stellar performance. I think this game is a toss-up and we’ll see a decent amount of scoring. Green is a great option to use in both cash and tournament play in Week 4, and you have to love the excellent amount of targets he’s netting each week. Right now, Green as averaging slightly over 10 targets a game.

Other choices: Antonio Brown, PIT @ Baltimore Ravens ($9,300); Odell Beckham, Jr., NYG @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($8,900)

Mid-Range

DeAndre Hopkins, HOU vs. Tennessee Titans ($6,400) – Hopkins, like I mentioned with A.J. Green above, is getting targeted a bunch as he’s averaging over 12 targets a game so far. Pretty darn good, wouldn’t you say? I like the price here a bunch and really like Hopkins for cash-game play. He’s averaging 15.8 FPPG so far, although I like him to exceed his seasonal average. The Titans are having issues so far against the pass, and with the Texans playing opponents tough I envision 6 catches, 80 yards and a TD score here.

Other choices: Golden Tate, DET @ Minnesota Vikings ($6,300); Amari Cooper, OAK @ Denver Broncos ($6,000); Adam Thielen, MIN vs. Detroit Lions ($5,800)

Value

J.J. Nelson, ARI vs. San Francisco 49ers ($5,600) – I know Nelson was fighting injury in Week 3, but being shut out completely? Well, that may happen, and did, when you’re only targeted three times during the entire contest. We all saw how the Rams annihilated the 49ers pass defense last week, right? I’ve got a good idea that Carson Palmer will be able to take advantage as well, and Nelson will be much healthier this week. Look for a big rebound at a fantastic value for tournament play, loving the production he’ll give for the price tag.

Other choices: Pierre Garcon, SF @ Arizona Cardinals ($5,500); Devin Funchess, CAR @ New England Patriots ($5,300); Allen Hurns, JAC @ New York Jets ($4,900); Brandon Marshall, NYG @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($4,600); Nelson Agholor, PHI @ Los Angeles Chargers ($3,900)

Over-Value

Sammy Watkins, LAR @ Dallas Cowboys ($5,900) – Not only is Watkins highly inconsistent as a receiver, and he’s been known to be just that over his career, he is now in concussion protocol. You can slot him into your lineup if you want, but Watkins is just too risky overall at $5.9K, even without concussion symptoms.

TIGHT END

Top Level

Rob Gronkowski, NE vs. Carolina Panthers ($6,600)

Mid-Range

Delanie Walker, TEN @ Houston Texans ($4,900)

Value

Ed Dickson, CAR @ New England Patriots ($2,500)

Over-Value

Jason Witten, DAL vs. Los Angeles Rams ($5,000)
