Dollar Free Agents 2016 Week 6

By Matthew Cherrin
Matthew Cherrin Colin Kaepernick- QB- 49ers
After five games of watching Blaine Gabbert throw the ball no further than five yards down the field, 49ers coach Chip Kelly decided to go with Colin Kaepernick in week 6 against the Bills. While Kaepernick had a terrible 2015 season, many experts thought Chip Kelly’s offense would be the perfect fit to revitalize Kaepernick to his 2013 self. While this week against the Bills might not be the best matchup to start Kaepernick, the 49ers schedule after that is favorable when they play Tampa Bay and New Orleans weak secondary. Pick up Kaepernick for a buck if you need a backup quarterback in the next couple weeks and want to take a low risk-high reward player.

Jalen Richard- RB- Raiders
Depending on the health of Latavius Murray, Jalen Richard might be a player fantasy owners should consider spending a buck on. Last week in the absence of Murray, Richard had eight rushing attempts for 31 yards and six catches for 66 yards against the Chargers. Richard will face a Chief’s defense that has given up the 6th most fantasy points to running backs so far in 2016. While Richard is splitting time with DeAndre Washington, Richard seems to be the running back making the most out of his opportunities. Monitor Murray’s health this week and pick up Richard for a buck.

Jacquizz Rodgers- RB- Bucs
The former Falcon Jacquizz Rodgers had a nice game on Monday night against the Panthers. He filled in for the injured Doug Martin and Charles Simms and recorded 30 carries for 101 yards against the Panthers. He also added five catches for 26 yards. With Simms going to the injured reserve list, Rodgers might be more than a one-time start. Rodgers will more than likely take the third down snaps, and Martin’s health has always been a concern since he came into the league. Pick up Rodgers this week and stash him on your bench until Tampa is back from their bye week.

Tyreek Hill- WR- Chiefs
The rookie wide receiver from West Alabama, Tyreek Hill, is starting to become a real weapon for the Chiefs in his last two games. In week 4 against the Steelers, Hill had seven targets, and caught five balls for 24 yards and a touchdown. His speed seems to be his real asset, considering he also has kickoff and punt return responsibilities. Since week 1, his targets have increased each week. The Chiefs face the Raiders defense that has given up the most fantasy points to wide receivers thus far in 2016. If your starting wide receiver is on a bye, you might want to consider picking up and starting Hill this week for a buck.
Cameron Meredith- WR- Bears
With Kevin White returning to the injured reserve list, Bears wide receiver Cameron Meredith saw a major increase in targets last week against the Colts. On Sunday, Meredith had nine receptions for 130 yards and one touchdown. With Alshon Jeffrey also banged up, Mededith might be the number one receiving option in Chicago right now. The Bears face the Jaguars this Sunday, who has given up the 9th most points to wide receivers this year. Meredith is a must pick up and you might be able to get him for a dollar this week.

C.J. Fiedorowicz- TE- Texans
Don’t ask me to pronounce his name, but C.J. Fiedorowicz might be a player fantasy owners should be considering picking up this week if they have a tight end on a bye. In the last two games, Fiedorowicz has eight receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown. He had as many targets last week as he had in the previous four games, which tells me the Texans are trying to get him more involved. This week the Texans face off against the 27th ranked Colt’s pass defense. Pick up and start Fiedorowicz this week for a buck if you need a tight end.
