DFS Hunter Report Week 15 2018

As I mention every week, I’ll be basing my weekly write-ups off DraftKings salaries, keeping in mind all suggestions are not equal and some players I like more for tournament or cash lineup builds over others.

QUARTERBACK

Top Level

Mitchell Trubisky, CHI @ San Francisco 49ers ($6,300) – Trubisky has been inconsistent of late, although he’s been fighting injury while even missing some time. He draws a nice matchup and the Bears are looking to lock up a higher seed in the playoffs, so a win here goes a long way. The 49ers’ secondary is ripe for the picking, so expect Trubisky to have a couple of TD passes with a great chance at exceeding 250 yards. I know those numbers aren’t going to win you a tournament, but I’m fine with that production in cash game play.

Other Choices: Baker Mayfield, CLE vs. Cincinnati Bengals ($6,100)

Value

Taylor Heinicke, CAR vs. Atlanta Falcons ($4,000) – Just based on the price alone, Heinicke is worth rostering in tournament play. With the Panthers shutting down Cam Newton for the last two games of the season, Heinicke gets a chance to toss the ball; however, don’t expect miracles. If you decide to build up your RB and WR slots with big-dollar players and you feel like taking a cut at QB, Heinicke is your dart throw QB.

Other Choices: Josh Allen, BUF @ New England Patriots ($5,800); Dak Prescott, DAL vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($5,700); Nick Foles, PHI vs. Houston Texans ($4700)

Over-Value

Aaron Rodgers, GB @ New York Jets ($6,300) – Rodgers is just not a good QB to roster this season in DFS play. Six out of the last eight games played for Rodgers have produced less than 20 FPPG, which is not earning value at all. Rodgers may be the most overrated QB in DFS this season. I’m staying away, even with the matchup facing the Jets and the potential that Rodgers always has in his arm.

Other Choices: Tom Brady, NE vs. Buffalo Bills ($5,900)

RUNNING BACK

Top Level

Saquon Barkley, NYG @ Indianapolis Colts ($7,900) – The $1.5K drop in Barkley’s salary from last week is huge. I for one am not passing on Barkley and will be headlining him in most of my lineups. Plus, Barkley faces the Colts who have been bad at stopping the RB passing game. Barkley is going to get plenty of looks as a receiver and he’ll be the headline option in a sputtering Giants offense. Gimee, gimee!

Other Choices: Ezekiel Elliott, DAL vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($9,000); Christian McCaffery, CAR vs. Atlanta Falcons ($8,800)

Value

Alvin Kamara, NO vs. Pittsburgh Steelers ($7,400) – Kamara is still going to cost you a chunk of change to roster him, but this price is a value in my eyes just as it was last week at $7.3K. The potential of a huge game is always there with Kamara and he can easily earn value in Week 16. I’m ignoring all matchup ramifications in choosing Kamara for a RB slot, as Kamara is a matchup proof play for me. Go ahead and lock him in.

Other Choices: Tarik Cohen, CHI @ San Francisco 49ers; Leonard Fournette, JAC @ Miami Dolphins ($6,000); Marlon Mack, IND vs. New York Giants ($5,500); Sony Michel, NE vs. Buffalo Bills ($4,900)

Over-Value

Nick Chubb, CLE vs. Cincinnati Bengals ($7,300) – I almost didn’t list Chubb in this slot, mainly since he’s been playing good ball. The matchup is ideal for Chubb, but I’m looking past the matchup and paying close attention to the salary at hand, which is the highest it’s been all season for Chubb. I see Chubb putting up solid numbers, just not enough to be worth the price tag.

Other Choices: Jaylen Samuels, PIT @ New Orleans Saints ($6,700)

WIDE RECEIVER

Top Level

Antonio Brown, PIT @ New Orleans Saints ($8,300) – The salary seems to make sense for Brown and DFS owners when building a lineup, although I consider Brown a slight value this week facing the Saints and their awful pass defense. I expect big numbers from Brown in Week 16, enough to carry your lineup. I don’t usually pump up players like this, expecting the world, but in this case, I think Brown lights it up.

Other Choices: Davante Adams, GB @ New York Jets ($8,500); JuJu Smith-Schuster, PIT @ New Orleans Saints ($8,000); Amari Cooper, DAL vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($7,500)

Value

Mike Evans, TB @ Dallas Cowboys ($6,800) – With the talent that Evans holds, I’m shocked he’s sitting below the $7K mark for two weeks in a row, especially after his good showing in Week 15. Evans’ inconsistency from week-to-week makes him a tournament play mostly, although I can see using him in a cash lineup if you must. Evans is a bright spot on a sporadic Bucs offense.

Other Choices: Jarvis Landry, CLE vs. Cincinnati Bengals ($6,200); Calvin Ridley, ATL @ Carolina Panthers ($5,100); Demaryius Thomas, HOU @ Philadelphia Eagles ($4,700)

Over-Value

Adam Thielen, MIN @ Detroit Lions ($7,800) – Thielen has disappeared and his price tag is not low enough for me to take a chance on him striking fantasy gold on Sunday. You have to figure Thielen being banged up is contributing to his lackluster performances, although Kirk Cousins is certainly not living up to his massive contract as the Vikings struggle to make the playoffs. I’m looking elsewhere for my WR slots.

Other Choices: Julio Jones, ATL @ Carolina Panthers ($8,700)

TIGHT END

Top Level

Zach Ertz, PHI vs. Houston Texans ($5,900)

Value

David Njoku, CLE vs. Cincinnati Bengals ($3,800)

Over-Value

George Kittle, SF vs. Chicago Bears ($6,000)

Good luck in Week 16!
