DFS Hunter Report Week 13 2018

As I mention every week, I’ll be basing my weekly write-ups off DraftKings salaries, keeping in mind all suggestions are not equal and some players I like more for tournament or cash lineup builds over others.

QUARTERBACK

Top Level

Russell Wilson, SEA vs. San Francisco 49ers ($6,300) – You’ve got a decent play in Wilson this week if you decide not to go with Patrick Mahomes at $7.6K. Mahomes is $1K more than the next highest QB, so if you want his services on your roster he’s going to eat into your salary cap in a big way. Wilson is good fallback option though as he’ll have a fantastic shot at earning value. As the season moves along, Wilson just gets better… and at the right time too. The matchup is favorable as well. Feel good about using Russell for all lineup formats.

Other Choices: Jared Goff, LAR @ Detroit Lions ($6,400); Lamar Jackson, BAL @ Atlanta Falcons ($5,900)

Value

Jeff Driskel, CIN vs. Denver Broncos ($4,500) – Get your GPP-dart right here! If you’re feeling a tad frisky and you don’t mind sacrificing the QB slot, Driskel is your guy. Last week, Driskel had a couple of TDs, one rush and one pass, so he didn’t have a bad game at all with 17.1 points against the Browns. I feel comfortable enough to take a chance on him at the salary he’s listed at. Again, Driskel is for tournament play only.

Other Choices: Derek Carr, OAK vs. Kansas City Chiefs ($5,000) – Yes, the Chiefs pass defense is much improved, but the Raiders have nothing to lose so an all-out-slinging Carr in the pocket at a discounted price is an under-the-radar option for contrarian play.

Over-Value

Aaron Rodgers, GB vs. Arizona Cardinals ($6,200) – Over his last five games played, Rodgers has exceeded 20 fantasy points in only one of those contests. Ugh. On the season, Rodgers’ numbers are solid, especially when you consider his TD/INT rate, but it’s not enough for me to ignore the price tag and hope he reaches value. It’s just not going to happen, regardless of the Cardinals matchup. I’d much rather go with Jared Goff or Jameis Winston at a similar price.

Other Choices: Mitchell Trubisky, CHI @ New York Giants ($5,400) – I’m avoiding Trubisky due to injury.

RUNNING BACK

Top Level

Christian McCaffery, CAR @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($8,800) – I wish I could roster Todd Gurley and McCaffery this week without taking too much of a hit at WR, although that would be a difficult lineup to build. I know McCaffery’s price tag is inflated off of last week’s monstrous showing, plus you can’t ignore the Bucs matchup. I do like McCaffery a bit more this week than Gurley, in choosing one over the other.

Other Choices: Todd Gurley, LAR @ Detroit Lions ($9,300); Kareem Hunt, KC @ Oakland Raiders ($7,800); Nick Chubb, CLE @ Houston Texans ($7,000)

Value

Aaron Jones, GB vs. Arizona Cardinals ($6,700) – I know Jones is almost $7K, so the value doesn’t pop. Still, with Jones’ production of late and the Cardinals with a defense that has difficulty stopping the run, we have a good DFS opportunity. Expect ownership to be a bit low too, which plays well into the hands of tournament DFS owners. Jones will go under the radar, while most owners pay attention to the likes of Christian McCaffery and Kareem Hunt.

Other Choices: Dalvin Cook, MIN @ New England Patriots ($6,200); Phillip Lindsay, DEN @ Cincinnati Bengals ($5,400); Chris Carson, SEA vs. San Francisco 49ers ($5,200); Lamar Miller, HOU vs. Cleveland Browns ($4,600)

Over-Value

Saquon Barkley, NYG vs. Chicago Bears ($7,900) – Barkley is a bit of a reach at $7.9K this week, although if you’ve got a strong feeling on him there’s no reason I should stop you from using Barkley. I mean, look at what the guy has done this season, right? I expect the Bears to hone in on Barkley all day long, making it a difficult task to score and produce fantasy points.

Other Choices: None

WIDE RECEIVER

Top Level

Mike Evans, TB vs. Carolina Panthers ($8,100) – Evans has found DFS worth again, and I like the trend to continue for one more week in a game that will see lots of back-and-forth action. Aside from the Chiefs/Raiders game, this is the game you want in on for points. Jameis Winston will target Evans a bunch, who I peg as an under owned player in tournament play. I would consider him for cash games as well.

Other Choices: Odell Beckham, Jr., NYG vs. Chicago Bears ($7,800); Brandin Cooks, LAR @ Detroit Lions ($7,000)

Value

D.J. Moore, CAR @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($5,600) – I like Moore for some of the same reasons I like Mike Evans above, although you’re getting Moore for a discounted price. I’m a bit surprised that Moore isn’t sitting at $6K, due to his surge in play and the matchup. The cards seem to be in play for Moore, so make sure you’ve got some shares in him and the Panthers offense in general.

Other Choices: Tyler Lockett, SEA vs. San Francisco 49ers ($5,800); Corey Davis, TEN vs. New York Jets ($5,500); Larry Fitzgerald, ARI @ Green Bay Packers ($5,100)

Over-Value

Tyreek Hill, KC @ Oakland Raiders ($9,100) – Would it be unfair of me to assume that the Chiefs won’t need Hill in Week 13? With all the weapons they have on offense, I’m not convinced that Hill sees many looks against the Raiders. Certainly not worth $9.1K, which is a $1K bump from Hill’s last game salary. Let other owners spend big bucks on Hill. No way he nets another 40-point game.

Other Choices: A.J. Green, CIN vs. Denver Broncos ($7,400)

TIGHT END

Top Level

Travis Kelce, KC @ Oakland Raiders ($7,000)

Value

Jared Cook, OAK vs. Kansas City Chiefs ($4,700)

Over-Value

Rob Gronkowski, NE vs. Minnesota Vikings ($5,400)
