Fantasy Thoughts 2016 Week 2

By Chad Stapley
Chad Stapley Marcus Mariota didn’t make it look pretty but he gutted out a win over the Lions in week two. Mariota threw for 238 yards with two TDs and one INT. He is still a QB2 as for fantasy football but he is getting better each week.

DeMarco Murray is doing exactly what the Titans wanted him to do, be a game changer. Murray ran the ball 12 times for 89 yards and he caught seven passes for 56 yards, Murray is proving to be very capable of being the lead RB.

Theo Riddick is another nice option to pick up at RB if he is still available. Riddick is a dual threat RB that can catch passes out of the backfield. The Lions are depleted in the RB department so look for him to get a lot of attention in week three.

Marvin Jones Jr. has looked every bit the part of WR1 through two weeks. This week Jones had eight catches for 118 yards. Start him on your fantasy football team each week.

The Kansas City offense looks out of whack but Spencer Ware is becoming a monster of a fantasy football player. Ware carried the ball 10 times for 57 yards and he caught two passes for 48 yards. They need to find more ways to get him the ball more often.

Lamar Miller has been exactly what the Texans needed at RB, a sturdy run between the tackles type of RB that has big play ability. Miller ran the ball 25 times for 83 yards and he caught two passes for 14 yards. Miller is looking like a steal of a FA pickup.

Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins are starting to get the ball rolling on offense, in a close loss to the Patriots Tannehill threw for 389 yards with two TDs and two INTs. He needs to cut down on the turnovers but Tannehill is looking more and more like a franchise QB.

Jarvis Landry and Devante Parker give the Dolphins a two-headed monster at WR. The duo caught 18 passes for 243 yards in a narrow loss in week two. Parker is looking like he is making strides in year two.

Jimmy Garoppolo was having himself a game against the Dolphins before he went down with an injury. The youngster threw for 234 yards with three TDs and no turnovers. He is looking like the real deal for when Tom Brady, eventually, retires.

Giovani Bernard is going to have to get more touches from the Bengals after the game he had against the Steelers. Bernard ran the ball for 17 yards and he caught nine passes for 100 yards and a TD.

Deangelo Williams is loving all the playing time he is getting with Le’Veon Bell out due to suspension. Williams ran the ball 32 times for 94 yards and he caught four passes for 38 yards and a TD. Start him on your fantasy football team until Bell comes back.

Dak Prescott is going to be a good QB but he is not quite ready to be a QB1 for fantasy football. Prescott hasn’t broke the 300 yard passing mark or thrown for a TD yet but you can see he is making strides and he is getting closer to being an every week threat.

Matt Ryan threw for 396 yards and three TDs in a close victory over the Raiders. Ryan has a chance to go off each week so he should absolutely be a starter on anyone’s fantasy football team.

If you can, avoid the Falcons RB duo, as they are still figuring out who is the lead back in Atlanta. Both Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are capable of being a starter in fantasy football but they both limit each other’s opportunities. Freeman ran the ball 17 times for 93 yards but was held without a reception and Coleman ran the ball 12 times for 46 yards and a TD and he caught two passes for 25 yards. Fielder’s choice on whom you should start out of that duo.

Derek Carr is going everything he can to keep the Raiders above water. This week Carr threw for 299 yards with three TDs but the Raiders defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed. Car now has 618 yards and four TDs on the season and no INTs.

Carson Wentz and the Eagles offense might be the real deal. Wentz has been a rookie sensation at QB since being thrown into the starter’s role a week before the season started. Wentz threw for 190 yards with one TD and no turnovers in an easy victory over the Bears. He is a decent QB2 option for your fantasy football team, but if the Eagles upgrade their WR staff he could go bonkers in the stat books.
