Digging In The Crates - Daily 2016 week 7

By Justin Lonero
Justin Lonero Week 7 Draft Kings
Historically when we dug through crates, we were looking for a vinyl record that we wanted to hear. The good old days seem to be over and we use iPhones and other electronic devices. Still, it shouldn't stop us to search for fantasy gold. The gold is out there, we just need to find it and that is where I come into play. Dig a little through the crates, we found Tyrod Taylor, James White and Cameron Meredith week six.

Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor @ Dolphins ($5,500)
I feel like Bill Murray in the Movie " Ground Hog Day" lately. Tyrod Taylor has been in the Crates for a couple weeks and his price really hasn't fluctuated much on Draft Kings. Taylor had 20.96 fantasy points a week ago, at home against San Francisco. Despite the lack of weapons surrounding him, Taylor still has been able to create plays. As of now it does not look good for LeSean McCoy to play this week, which would force Taylor to use his legs even more. We know the Bills want to run the football a ton but I dont think Tyrod Taylor can hurt us this week, plug him into your lineups with confidence.

Kirk Cousins @ Lions ($5,900)
If there is one thing we have learned about the Detroit Lions secondary in 2016, it is leaky. The Lions have given up 17 touchdowns, and are allowing 271 passing yards a game. They have also allowed five-40+ yard plays. Michigan native Kirk Cousins will get a chance to capitalize at Ford field. Cousins will probably be without star tight end Jordan Reed, which is obviously a noteworthy revelation. He has averaged 17.8 fantasy points per game through six games. The Lions/Redskins game has one of the higher over unders on the week, so I anticipate some fantasy goodness in this game. Marcus Mariota, Andy Dalton, and Jameis Winston are all in good spots at in Cousins price range. Cousins will be most likely be the least owned of that crowd.

Running back's

Mike Gillislee @ Dolphins ($3,000)
Two things we know about the Bills offense. They lack talent, and they love to run the football. It doesnt look like LeSean McCoy will play Sunday, opening the door for Mike Gillislee. Gillislee has 17 carries on the season for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Gillislee is priced at the minimum on Draft Kings, which is ideal considering the work load he should receive. Rookie Jonathan Williams will get some touches as well. Both back's will have the luxury of playing a Dolphins run defense that has struggled all season. Minimum priced running back's that start, are often referred to as " Free Squares". Free squares are players that we should expect solid production from at a bottom of the barrel price tag.

Shaun Draughn/Mike Davis vs. Tampa Bay ($3,000)
Carlos Hyde will not play week seven, opening the door up for Mike Davis and Shaun Draughn. Both are the minimum price Sunday. Shaun Draughn has served as Hyde's primary back up in recent season's being used in the passing game. Mike Davis will get the early down work and the two will be in a committee for the time being. Colin Kaepernick looked decent given that he hasn't played in roughly a year.

Wide Receiver's

Kendall Wright vs. Colts ($3,700)
Kendall Wright came back week six with an immediate splash. Wright caught eight of nine targets, for 133 yards, and a touchdown. DeMarco Murray is the focal point of the Titans run first approach, but outside of Delanie Walker in the passing game, there is no stability or consistency. Marcus Mariota will get to face a Colts secondary, at home, that is near the bottom in passing yards allowed per game (293.5). Kendall Wright should be motivated to perform well, he is in a contract season. He is an excellent tournament play.

Adam Thielen @ Philadelphia ($3,700)
It really is impressive how well the Minnesota Vikings have performed considering some of the injuries on offense they have had to deal with. In Stefon Diggs absence week 5 Adam Thielen caught 7-of-8 targets for 127 yards and a touchdown. The matchup against the Eagles Sunday is not nearly as easy of a task, but we'd have to think Thielen will stay involved whether Stefon Diggs plays or not. The organization has been impressed with his crisp route running so far. Similar to Kendall Wright, these are prototypical Crate plays. Cordarelle Patterson and Charles Johnson are not nearly enough consistent to rely on for fantasy purposes.

Tight End's

Jack Doyle @ Titans ($2,500)
Jack Doyle sounds more like an Irish pub owner than a tight end in the National Football League. All kidding aside, Doyle has showed glimpses of brilliance for the Colts and this week they'll be without tight end Dwayne Allen. Andrew Luck calls him Clint Eastwood. Chuck Pagano calls him " one of the best pros we have on this team". How is any of this important? He is well liked by the whole team and particularly his quarterback. Doyle played 64 of 71 snaps week 6. Last week Doyle caught a modest four receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown. We cant do better at tight end for the price and opportunity here.

Cameron Brate @ San Francisco ($2,900)
The Buccaneers character has been tested big time this season already. Doug Martin has missed a few weeks, Charles Sims and Vincent Jackson were placed on injured reserve, and Austin Seferian-Jenkins was shipped to the Jets. Outside of Mike Evans, Cameron Brate has been the lone bright spot in the passing game. Brate has had 21 targets in the last three games. The Bucs will face a 49ers defense that is missing Navorro Bowman and is a middle of the pack team against tight ends.

Defense/Special Teams

Ravens @ Jets ($2,800)

Cameron Brate went to Harvard, and so did Ryan Fitzpatrick. Brate will play this weekend and Fitzpatrick will not. We learn something new every day. Fitzpatrick threw 11 interceptions already this season and I think we can all agree that Geno Smith is not a big upgrade. The Jets will not be able to run the football against the Ravens which will force Geno Smith to throw the ball and the turnovers and sacks will follow. Dollar for dollar the Ravens may be the best week 7 defense.
