Wide receiver Steve Smith returned to the practice field on Sunday afternoon while running back Jonathan Stewart sat out. Reported by the Charlotte Observer
Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Smith has been recovering from a foot infection that has sidelined him for nearly two weeks. "He went back to his normal practice mode--100 percent, all the time," HC Ron Rivera said. "So it was a lot of fun watching Steve back on the football field." Rivera believes Smith will be ready for the opener against Tampa Bay next Sunday. Stewart suffered a sprained ankle late in the first half against the New York Jets last Sunday. He has not practiced with the team since his injury. He ran inside in the pool and the treadmill. They will evaluate him through the week before giving an update on his status for Tampa Bay. "We don't know til we see him get out here and start running around again," Rivera said. ... Stay tuned.
