"I started running about two weeks [ago] but the coaches donít really want me to force the issue right now so I still havenít started running yet. They want me to just take my time with it -- they feel like thatís whatís best. So right now Iím just taking my time with it. Ö But Iíll definitely be ready for the season.Ē As ESPN.com's Ohm Youngmisuk notes, making camp is not the same as being ready to practice at the start of camp. But the expectation always has been that the Giants will be very cautious with their top receiver. Nicks broke the fifth metatarsal and underwent surgery in late May
. He might not be back on the field until mid-August. Still, it's worth noting that Nicks is no longer in a protective walking boot. The expectation is Nicks will be ready for the season opener against Dallas.
