(3/16 5:19 PM PT)
The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Denver police issued a citation to White early Saturday morning. White has an unknown court date at which he will have to answer for the citation, she said.
Diehards Line:
So. ... The new information is White has a court date to answer to the two charges -- destruction of property and disobedience to a lawful order/ interference and resistance. Still no further details on the incident leading to the citation, but we'll continue watching for more.

(3/16 5:17 PM PT)
The Facts:
Hackett left Charlotte on Saturday after visiting with Panthers officials, and headed back to Seattle to decide where he wants to play next year. One of his representatives, Kevin Robinson, called his trip a good one: "It went extremely well, he was pleased with what he heard," Robinson said.
Diehards Line:
According to Herald staffer Darren Gantt, there's a feeling around the league that Hackett's East Coast jaunt through Washington, Tampa Bay and Charlotte was about building leverage with the Seahawks. When asked if he planned on taking his best offer back to Seattle, Robinson said: "All I can tell you is Seattle is very interested, and asked to be kept in the process." Robinson has suggested in the past that Hackett wouldn't mind remaining in Seattle.

(3/16 4:33 PM PT)
The Facts:
Police issued a citation to a Colorado native and current NFL player Saturday morning. Denver Police say 23-year-old White, a running back for the Tennessee Titans, was cited for destruction of property, disobedience to a lawful order and interference and resisting.
Diehards Line:
White apparently was cited after an unspecified "incident" in his native Denver. No other information was immediately available Sunday afternoon. Doesn't sound serious, but we'll report back further as more details come to light.

class="headline" onClick="expanddiv('tr5')" style="cursor:hand; cursor:pointer" onmouseover="window.status=' ';return true">Report: Jets, Bubba Franks Agree To Terms
(3/16 11:13 AM PT)
The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... The Jets have agreed to terms with former Packers TE Franks, an NFL source has told the Daily News. Franks, a three-time Pro Bowler, is coming off one of his least productive seasons. But he provides depth, backing up Chris Baker.
Diehards Line:
Franks, 30, was a starter for seven of his eight seasons in Green Bay. He recorded 256 career receptions for 2,300 yards and 32 touchdowns. His touchdown receptions are tied for the 10th-most in Packers' history. Injuries have slowed him in recent years. He has missed 14 games over the past three seasons with knee, neck and back injuries. ... It's worth noting the Jets strongly considered drafting Franks in 2000, when they had four first-round picks and selected TE Anthony Becht in the first round.

class="headline" onClick="expanddiv('tr6')" style="cursor:hand; cursor:pointer" onmouseover="window.status=' ';return true">Dolphins Sign Former Bengals WR Tab Perry
(3/16 8:32 AM PT)
The Facts:
The Dolphins have agreed to terms with Perry on a one-year deal at approximately $927,00, according to the Bengals' Web site late Saturday night.
Diehards Line:
The 6-3, 208-pound Perry has a connection to the Dolphins' new coaching staff. The return specialist played for receivers coach Karl Dorrell at UCLA. Still, it appears Perry's primary role will be on special teams. ... Last season Perry returned seven kickoffs for a 20.4-yard average. As a receiver, he started one game and had one reception for seven yards. He was placed on injured reserve after Week 6 because of a hip injury that limited him to four games during the past two seasons.

class="headline" onClick="expanddiv('tr7')" style="cursor:hand; cursor:pointer" onmouseover="window.status=' ';return true">Jets Closing In On Bubba Franks
(3/16 7:54 AM PT)
The Facts:
The Jets, determined to improve upon last season's 4-12 debacle, are continuing one of their busiest offseasons and are close to signing three-time Pro Bowl tight end Franks, according to two people with knowledge of the negotiations. ... An official announcement could come as early as tomorrow, when the Jets begin their offseason program.
Diehards Line:
Franks has been plagued by injuries the past three seasons but remains a solid blocker and reliable receiver, especially in the red zone. According to Star-Ledger staffer Dave Hutchinson, Franks is viewed as a good complement to starter Chris Baker. The Jets have been searching for a quality backup tight end for several seasons.

class="headline" onClick="expanddiv('tr8')" style="cursor:hand; cursor:pointer" onmouseover="window.status=' ';return true">Vikings Re-Sign WR Robert Ferguson
(3/15 4:18 PM PT)
The Facts:
Ferguson, an unrestricted free agent, has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Vikings that is worth approximately $1 million plus a possible $500,000 to $600,000 in incentives.
Diehards Line:
Ferguson was the team's second-leading receiver last season with 32 catches but attracted little interest on the free-agent market. Ferguson's agent, Brian Overstreet, told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that Chicago, Pittsburgh and "a couple other" teams also expressed interest in the veteran but that his client did not make any visits. Ferguson returns to a receiving corps that has added free agent Bernard Berrian and includes Bobby Wade, Sidney Rice and Aundrae Allison in its top five.

class="headline" onClick="expanddiv('tr9')" style="cursor:hand; cursor:pointer" onmouseover="window.status=' ';return true">It's Official: Darrell Jackson Will Be Released By 49ers
(3/15 2:40 PM PT)
The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... A week ago, Jackson was considered a starting receiver for the 49ers. Today, he is no longer on the team. Jackson received a phone call late last night from HC Mike Nolan, who informed Jackson of the club's plan to release him on Monday. The club went ahead and announced the termination of Jackson's contract this morning.
Diehards Line:
The move comes after the off-season acquisitions of receivers Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson. After the 49ers signed Bruce, 49ers GM Scot McCloughan said he envisioned Bruce and Jackson as the team's starting wideouts. Now Johnson, Bruce, Arnaz Battle, Jason Hill and Ashley Lelie -- and a possible draft pick -- are expected to compete for playing time for the 49ers this season.

class="headline" onClick="expanddiv('tr10')" style="cursor:hand; cursor:pointer" onmouseover="window.status=' ';return true">Redskins Waiting For D.J. Hackett's Decision
(3/15 8:56 AM PT)
The Facts:
The Redskins are waiting for Hackett to decide on their contract offer before pursuing other options at the position, a league source said yesterday, and the team still is in contact with the agent for WR Reche Caldwell.
Diehards Line:
As noted in a previous item, the Redskins offered Hackett a contract during his two-day visit this week, hoping he would immediately sign with them. But Hackett continued his free agent tour instead. After leaving Washington on Thursday, Hackett was scheduled to meet with the Bucs and Panthers. The Redskins would like to acquire a dependable, big veteran wideout and Hackett (6-2 and 208 pounds) could fill that role. ... The team is also interested in re-signing Caldwell, who made timely catches down the stretch while contributing to the Redskins' late-season run to a playoff berth.
