The Facts: The Carolina Panthers reached a contract agreement with Muhammad Tuesday.
Diehards Line:Muhammad was expected to sign his contract later Wednesday, a week after he was released by the Chicago Bears. Muhammad spent nine seasons with Carolina before being released in a salary-cap move after the 2004 season. He rejoins Steve Smith and will compete for a starting position, while also serving as a mentor to Dwayne Jarrett, a 2007 second-round draft pick. Also, according to ESPN.com insider John Clayton, Muhammad's return probably means that Drew Carter and Keary Colbert are likely to leave via free agency.
