The Facts: As previously noted, Martin has been slow to recover from an arthroscopic procedure performed on his right knee last December and was placed on the active/physically unable-to-perform list yesterday. Houston is expected to work with the first team today in Martin's absence. Derrick Blaylock and rookie Leon Washington are also in the mix.

Diehards Line:Martin has bounced back from injury throughout his career, but age is an issue. Houston showed some potential as a downhill runner while starting four games for an injured Martin as a rookie last year and appears to be in line for the top back-up spot -- and a starting role if need be -- again this year.
