The Facts: Mariota has said he doesn't think about getting hurt again -- that as a professional athlete, he needs to put it out of his mind. But he's only human. And those thoughts are natural for the Titans' franchise quarterback, who's nearing the end of his rehab from a broken right leg suffered in late December. "I think from a strength standpoint I'm good, I've been doing everything lifting-wise. My body feels at a point where I can do all those things," Mariota said Wednesday after minicamp practice. "Now it's good, you've done everything. Just trust it, that you can do the movements that you've been doing. For me, that's my next step. I've got to just go out and do it."
Diehards Line:
Mariota, whose first two NFL seasons were shortened by injury, has been limited to 7-on-7 drills, individual work and walkthroughs during offseason workouts, as the Titans have taken a conservative approach to his recovery. His work on the field has been a bonus, HC Mike Mularkey said. “I didn’t expect anything in the OTAs, but we got a lot of work with him,” Mularkey said. “Majority of it’s been 7-on-7, individual, the walkthrough periods. Like today, this afternoon he’ll do the walkthroughs, which has been good. ..." Mariota is expected to be completely healthy for the start of training camp in late July.
