The Facts: The Ravens have released Pitta with an injury waiver after he re-injured his hip in an OTA practice last week, sadly ending his time in Baltimore.
Diehards Line:According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, doctors confirmed that it’s a dislocated hip. It’s Pitta’s third hip injury, leading to questions about whether he will call it a career. ... The Ravens gain $2.5 million in salary-cap space with Pitta’s release, per ESPN. Baltimore signed rookie free agent tight end Barrett Burns in a corresponding roster move. The Ravens also have Benjamin Watson, who is coming off Achilles surgery, Crockett Gillmore, Nick Boyle, Maxx Williams (knee) and Darren Waller. Could Pitta's release free up some money to add an available wideout? There's some talk that former Jet Eric Decker might be a fit. We'll be watching for more on that.
