The Facts:
According to Tribune staff writer Dan Wiederer, at present, Meredith is expected to miss between six and eight weeks. That could mean Meredith may miss the opening of training camp, with the Bears reporting on July 26. But in the big picture, Meredith's injury is not initially believed to be serious. Meredith recorded a team-best 66 catches for 888 yards last season while also scoring four touchdowns and throwing for another. He projects to be a starter in the Bears' offense.
Diehards Line:Following up on the previous item. ... The Bears will be without Meredith for the remainder of organized team activities as well as the team’s mandatory mini-camp later this month after the third-year receiver suffered ligament damage in one of his thumbs during Thursday’s practice. Multiple league sources confirmed the injury. Sources also indicated Thursday evening that surgery on the thumb has not been ruled out.
