The Facts: The Patriots extended restricted free agent offer sheet to Gillislee. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the offer is for 2 years and $6.4 million with $4 million coming in the first year.
Diehards Line:Remember, the Patriots signed Bills wideout Chris Hogan as a restricted free agent this time last year. That worked out well enough, but Gillislee joining the Patriots would only further dilute and already crowded backfield and doesn't appear to fill their need for a true power back with LeGarrette Blount still not willing to bite on the offer New England has reportedly had on the table for more than a month. Some believe Gillislee's offer sheet is an effort to sway Blount to accept that offer. Either way, the Bills can match the Patriots offer and keep Gillislee. If not, the Patriots would owe them a fifth-round pick for the running back, who had 101 carries for 577 yards and eight touchdowns last year. ... Stay tuned.
