The Facts: Martin has met with the team and it is expected that he'll be back with the Bucs for the start of offseason workouts next Monday.
Diehards Line:
As Florida Football Insider's Roy Cummings noted, that would certainly be a good thing as Martin is coming of what had to be one of the most trying years of his life. It was a year that started well, with Martin signing a new five-year, $35.75 million contract last spring. It was all downhill after that, though, as Martin tore up a hamstring in Week 2 at Arizona and never regained his 2015 Pro Bowl form. Then came the four-game suspension for his violation of the NFL’s PED policy in late December and his admission to a drug dependency issue. That suspension voided the guaranteed money remaining on his contract. Martin has since been to and apparently completed a drug rehabilitation program and the word we get from the Bucs on him has been all good. So returning for OTAs is certainly a step in the right direction, but it remains a situation worth watching.
