The Facts: Roethlisberger's musings about a possible retirement after the end of the 2016 season didn't seem very credible when he made them in January. But Roethlisberger never made it official that he'd be returning to the Steelers after amending his first statement in March to say that he was leaning toward a return. Until Friday, that is, when Roethlisberger posted the following to his verified Twitter account: "Informed the team I am looking forward to my 14th season. Steeler Nation will get my absolute best! — Ben."
Diehards Line:So if there was any real question about his return, there certainly isn't now. ... Despite having two of the best complimentary weapons in the NFL in Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown, Roethlisberger had a down season for his standards. Some of that can be pinned on the lack of a true No. 2 receiver. He should bounce back if Martavis Bryant is reinstated after missing this past season under a drug suspension. But the veteran signal caller will be there regardless.
