The Facts: Panthers team physician, Dr. Pat Connor, performed surgery today to repair Newton's partially torn rotator cuff. Connor was "pleased with the results."
Diehards Line:As previously noted, the surgery was performed after it was determined that rest and rehab alone weren't getting the job done. Newton's rehab will begin Monday. Twelve weeks after the surgery, Newton will begin an early throwing program. If he progresses well he will start throwing with the team at 16 weeks after surgery and his condition will be monitored closely. The goal is to have Newton ready to go for training camp. ...
