The Facts: Giants co-owner John Mara said he has no concern about the talented but volatile Beckham's pattern of emotional outbursts. "He's an emotional player," Mara said. "I think he's going to mature over time, but I'm not losing any sleep worrying about him. He's a prideful, motivated young man who competes at 100 percent all the time. I think he'll mature over time."
Diehards Line:The Giants have taken a softer tone with Beckham since GM Jerry Reese said after the season that the 24-year-old needs to grow up. Mara said he's comfortable that Beckham's antics won't detract from his unparalleled talent. "I've interacted with him enough to know that I have confidence that he's going to be a good player in this league for a long time," Mara said. "He's the last guy on our team that I'm worried about." Co-owner Steve Tisch made similar comments about Beckham earlier on Monday. Meanwhile, Mara said no discussions have taken place with Beckham's camp about a long-term contract extension. The 2014 first-round pick is entering the final season of his rookie deal. The Giants almost assuredly will pick up Beckham's fifth-year option for the 2018 season by the deadline this May, but Mara said the front office is currently more focused on free agency.
