The Facts: Peterson might have priced himself out of signing with a team early in free agency. One source from a team in the market for a running back believes Peterson wanted more than $8 million in the first year of a contract.
Diehards Line:As ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler understated, even with Peterson’s reputation as one of the best playmakers of the modern era, that is a steep request for the current veteran tailback climate. Eddie Lacy, one of the first running backs signed in free agency, took a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks worth up to $5.5 million that includes a weight clause. The Packers have interest in meeting with Peterson, but that might not happen until after next month's draft, according to ESPN's Ben Goessling. But don't look for Green Bay -- or anybody else -- to overpay.
