The Facts: Following up on an ongoing story. ... After being released by the Bears on Thursday, Cutler was immediately linked to the Jets. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said Friday the interest is mutual. "The Jets do have some interest in Jay Cutler. And I'm told he has interest in them as well," Rapoport said.
Diehards Line:Rapoport went on to explain the Jets would like a veteran to help with the development of Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty, but Cutler does not always have the greatest reputation for dealing with teammates, whether that's the reality or not. What he does possess is a wealth of experience in many different systems -- some of those coordinator changes necessitated by his own erratic play. The presence of QB coach Jeremy Bates, who worked with Cutler in both Denver and Chicago, adds to the intrigue. As NFL.com summed up: "If it comes down to Cutler and Geno Smith, Jets brass might decide to dance with the devil they don't know."
