The Facts: The Ravens currently have approximately $10 million of salary cap space. They also have to decide by 4 p.m. Thursday whether to pick up wide receiver Wallace's option for 2017. Declining it would create $5.75 million of cap room.
Diehards Line:
As previously noted, Wallace has been considered a potential salary-cap cut because his $8 million cap figure ranks fifth on the Ravens. But HC John Harbaugh made it clear where he stands on this decision last week. "I want Mike Wallace on our football team," Harbaugh said at the NFL Scouting Combine. "I know he's working to be part of our team. And I'm planning on having him back next year." In his first season with the Ravens, Wallace led the team with 1,017 yards receiving, his first 1,000-yard season since 2011. He also caught 72 passes and four touchdowns. One reason why Baltimore is looking to bring back Wallace is its depth at wide receiver. Steve Smith Sr. retired at the end of the season, and Kamar Aiken is a free agent. The only Ravens wide receivers under contract who caught more than 10 passes are Wallace and Breshad Perriman.
