The Facts: HC Sean McDermott and his staff have been reviewing film of Taylor and discussing whether or not they believe he should be the team's starting quarterback in 2017. That decision has not yet been made, WGR550.com's Sal Capaccio is told.
Diehards Line:
The Bills can internally make a decision whenever they want between now and March 11, but they cannot officially exercise the option until March 9, the first day of the new league year. If the Bills do not retain Taylor, he will become an unrestricted free agent. Last week, while at Super Bowl LI in Houston, Taylor told John Murphy on WGR that he hopes to return to Buffalo next season and that he’s talked to McDermott “about five times,” adding “I’ve seen Rico -- new OC Rich Dennison -- a couple times around the facility. I've seen just about all the offensive staff, quarterback coach included. I talk to those guys often because I'm in Buffalo rehabbing from surgery.” Last Thursday, CBS’s Jason La Canfora reported that the Bills had “significant interest” in acquiring Cowboys QB Tony Romo this offseason if they could not retain Taylor on a restructured deal.
