The Facts: Bridgewater could miss the entire 2017 season as he continues recovery from knee surgery, Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports.
Diehards Line:
Bridgewater was injured in practice in August prior to the 2016 season, tearing his ACL and dislocating his knee while planting to throw a pass. Doctors reportedly told the team he will need at least 19 months, which would mean he misses the entire season again. Sans Bridgewater, the Vikings acquired Sam Bradford via trade, who threw for 3,877 yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions as the Vikings went 8–8. It should be noted, however, the Vikingsd said Friday there was no new update on Bridgewater's rehabilitation. Bridgewater's agent, Kennard McGuire, told ESPN's Adam Schefter that "I would not overreact to a story that has zero substance and no credibility.” The Vikings referred back to coach Mike Zimmer's comments from his season-ending news conference on Jan. 3, when he said the team did not know when Bridgewater would return, attributing the lingering uncertainty to the many variables that come with a knee dislocation as opposed to a normal ACL tear. ... We'll continue to follow up, but nobody should be banking on seeing Bridgewater back in action until they see actual evidence of it in coming months.
