The Facts: Tannehill said he still hopes to play this season and no decision has been made about whether that's possible. "Obviously I'm hoping," he said. "I don't really know what's going to happen at this point. No one knows. It's all really about how my body responds. We'll come to find out shortly, but right now we don't really know."
Diehards Line:
Tannehill has what coach Adam Gase described as a sprained MCL and ACL in his left knee and was wearing a full leg cast in the locker room after Saturday’s 34-13 win at the Jets. He is holding out hope to play in the season finale Jan. 1 or in a potential playoff game. Tannehill denied an NFL Network report during the Dolphins-Jets broadcast that said his MCL had torn completely off the bone. He said his MCL has been diagnosed with a grade-2 sprain. “It’s not completely all the way off,” he said. “It’s categorized as a grade-2, so there’s some integrity left in it.” The Dolphins could have put Tannehill on Injured Reserve this week, ending his season, but chose not to because they haven’t fully nixed the possibility of him coming back.
