The Facts: Jared Goff is the Rams' starting quarterback of the future, but he's not their starting quarterback of the present. Keenum will start the Rams' preseason opener next Saturday against the Cowboys, HC Jeff Fisher announced at his Friday press conference.
Diehards Line:
That game will be the Rams’ first game in Los Angeles in 20 years, and Fisher apparently doesn’t think Goff is ready just yet. As PFT notes, however, Goff may still earn the starting job for the start of the regular season. Keenum replaced Nick Foles as the Rams’ starting quarterback last year and started five of the Rams’ last seven games. He played reasonably well, throwing four touchdown passes and only one interception as the Rams went 3-2 in games he started.
