The Facts: HC Mike Zimmer said Bridgewater has shown plenty of improvement this spring, especially throwing the deep ball. Stefon Diggs said one reason is Bridgewater and his receivers developed much-improved timing during workouts at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex outside Orlando. "Just the time invested and the energy that we put forth," Diggs said Tuesday, the first day of the Vikings' three-day minicamp. "Teddy looks really good just as far as spinning the ball. He looks strong, too."
Diehards Line:
“Teddy Two Gloves Passing Academy," as Bridgewater’s teammates are calling their week together in April, included Diggs, Jarius Wright, Charles Johnson, Cordarrelle Patterson and Adam Thielen, and tight ends Kyle Rudolph and MyCole Pruitt. The improvements are great news considering how Bridgewater looked in his first two seasons throwing the deep ball. It was one of the team’s biggest weaknesses. The Vikings brought in speedy receiver Mike Wallace last season, and he didn’t catch a single long pass before being released. Now, though, Zimmer says Bridgewater is winging it. “I think we’re just focused on it a little more,” Zimmer said. Bridgewater has talked about adding some muscle since last season, though he won’t reveal how much. He said his mechanics also have improved. All of this talk of improvement has raised expectations for the 2016 season, but fantasy owners shouldn't get too excited until they see the evidence of that improvement with their own eyes in August.
