The Facts: By investing a four-year, $72 million contract in Osweiler, who went 5-2 as a starter last season for the Super Bowl champion Broncos before being replaced by Peyton Manning, the Texans are hoping they've injected stability, size and arm strength into the quarterback position. Osweiler has impressed Texans offensive coordinator George Godsey with his work ethic, routinely arriving for work at dawn at the Texans' training facility. "Yeah, it's definitely arrow up," Godsey said. "We've spent a lot of time together. It's a whole new vernacular. He knows he has to put the time in. Players see it, players respect it, coaches definitely respect it, too."
Diehards Line:
Osweiler skipped the Broncos' White House trip rather than miss an organized team activity. He also skipped the Broncos' private Super Bowl ring ceremony on Sunday and the AFC West franchise will deliver his Super Bowl 50 ring to him. Osweiler organized private workouts in Arizona with the receivers and other skill players shortly after signing with the Texans. He's also put in extra time with Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to build timing and chemistry. So, by all accounts, Osweiler is off to a good start with his new teammates and coaching staff. It doesn't guarantee success; but it certainly doesn't hurt.
