The Facts: Stewart has been limited throughout much of organized team activities with discomfort in his left foot, HC Ron Rivera told the Observer after Tuesday's practice. "That foot just kind of lingered after he got bent over backwards in the Super Bowl," Rivera said. "When he showed up it was still sore a little bit. When he started to run he said he could still feel it a little bit."
Diehards Line:
Stewart injured his left foot midway through the first quarter of Super Bowl 50 when Denver defensive end Derek Wolfe tackled Stewart around his ankle, causing him to go down awkwardly. Stewart limped off the field and was mostly ineffective after retuning to the game. He rushed 12 times for 29 yards in the Broncos’ 24-10 victory, but scored the Panthers’ lone touchdown on a 1-yard run in the second quarter. It’s the same foot Stewart sprained late last season, causing him to miss the final three regular-season games. Rivera said the Panthers are being cautious with Stewart, who ran for 989 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games in 2015. Stewart, 29, participated in positional drills Tuesday, but did not appear to be involved in the team portion of practice. “We’re really trying to be smart with that," Rivera said. "I wouldn’t say it’s 100 percent, but it’s almost there.” We'll be watching for more.
