The Facts: OC Curtis Modkins said last week that there was no timetable for Kaepernick to resume on-field activities and that was followed by a report casting doubt on his participation in this week's minicamp. Kaepernick won't be doing everything during the three days of work this week, but coach Chip Kelly said Tuesday that he will be participating.
Diehards Line:
Kelly said, via multiple beat reporters, that Kaepernick will do individual drills over the next few days before returning to the sideline for the team portions of the workouts. It’s a small step forward for Kaepernick and there’s not much time for him to add to his workload before the team wraps up their offseason program, but any forward step is a welcome one for a player who hasn’t been able to make his case for the starting job after having three surgeries after the end of the regular season. Anything he’ll be doing now will be part of laying the groundwork for training camp, where, assuming all is well physically, Kaepernick will get his chance to fully compete with Blaine Gabbert.
