The Facts: GM Bob Quinn told reporters Monday that Abdullah should be cleared for the start of training camp in late July. Quinn also said that tight end Brandon Pettigrew, who suffered a torn ACL last December, won't be ready for the start of camp but said the team believes Pettigrew will be able to participate later in camp and the preseason.
Diehards Line:
Abdullah had surgery to repair a torn labrum in January. He’s been rehabbing but not participating in practices this spring. A second-round pick in 2015, Abdullah figures as the starting running back this season for the Lions. He led the team with 597 rushing yards last year as a rookie and also led the NFL in kick return yardage with 1,077. He was injured in December but finished the season.
