The Facts: Bell is back. The Pro Bowl running back took part in portions of OTA drills Tuesday. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune, Bell did individual drills, but did not work during 11-on-11 portions of practice available to the media. "They're just trying to protect me from myself," he said, adding that he was cleared medically.
Diehards Line:
Bell tore his right MCL in a game against the Bengals in November. In suggesting Cincinnati defenders were trying to take him out of the game, Bell notes he might consider adjusting his game. "I'm still going to be physical; I just know that when I'm on the sidelines I can't expect somebody to just push me out of bounds, you know?" Bell said. "I can't take nothing for granted. I have to really protect myself -- either get out of bounds or continue to finish the play. ..." It's hard to imagine Bell not fighting for extra yards. Still, the point is taken. As NFL.com put it: "Doesn't Bell's value transcend the extra yard or two he might gain by throwing his shoulders down at the end of a long run?" We'll be watching for more.
