The Facts: Cruz was out on the field Monday as the Giants opened organized team activities. But the wide receiver did not participate in any team drills, instead spending most of the session off to the side. And that's where Cruz is expected to be for the remainder of OTAs, as well as the team's mandatory three-day minicamp in mid-June. But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The Giants and Cruz have a plan, and now, they have a targeted return date. "He's working to get back for training camp," HC Ben McAdoo said after the first OTA practice. "Small steps."

Diehards Line: Cruz declared himself 100 percent physically a few weeks ago after missing the last 26 games due to a patellar tear in his right knee in 2014, and a rare injury to his left calf which cost him the entire 2015 season. But the Giants are still taking it slow, and Cruz is on board. "This offseason program is using the OTA days as building blocks," Cruz said in April. "We're using these days to build up as we go along, and then when I go on my own (in the summer), my personal trainer will have a rapport with the Giants staff in order to keep that building block process going. By training camp, I should be pretty much ready to go." The Giants are scheduled to report to training camp on July 30. Until then, it's wait-and-see for the team and for Cruz.
