The Facts: Just a week after he was drafted last spring, Heuerman suffered a torn ACL during rookie minicamp. When the Broncos open organized team activity practices next week, Heuerman looks forward to actually being part of everything his teammates do. "I'm back to 100 percent, doing everything like normal," Heuerman said. "[The knee] feels good."
Diehards Line:
Though Heuerman spent the 2015 season going through treatments and meetings and was with his teammates nearly every day, he felt separated from the game and the team. He's eager to change that. A third-round pick out of Ohio State, the Broncos saw Heuerman as an athletic tight end who could learn on the job and turn short completions into long gains as a rookie. With a different offense this year and months of rehab behind him, Heuerman sees an opportunity to play a big role. “You’re picking things up every day,” he said. “I know the offense well. It’s just about taking things from paper to the field. ..." Again, the opportunity is there.
