The Facts: After seeing Hyde work in OTAs, HC Chip Kelly echoed his previous praise of the 49ers third-year running back. "Carlos is a stud," Kelly said when asked if the team would lighten Hyde's workload after a foot injury shortened the runner's 2015 campaign. "He's been full-go since we started in the beginning of April."
Diehards Line:
The 49ers coach continued to highlight Hyde's upside. "He is as advertised," Kelly said. "To have someone that size who is that agile and has that vision, it’s really impressive to see him work every day." Indeed, despite the concerns about his health, those who follow the team closely report Hyde has a different look to him. His left foot isn't nagging him anymore, not after a stabilizing screw was inserted into it during a December surgery. He missed the final nine games last season with a stress fracture that ultimately required surgery in December. Hyde is determined to show he can be the sturdy, productive rusher who racked up 168 yards and two touchdowns in last season's opening win over the Vikings. We'll be watching for further signs that is indeed the case. Or not.
