The Facts: Artis-Payne was arrested Sunday morning in Gaston County for speeding and reckless driving. He was driving 102 mph in a 65 mph zone. Diehards Line:
Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor, Huffstickler said.
Artis-Payne was taken to Gaston County Jail with an unsecured $5,000 bond, which means he didn’t have to pay any money – he just signed his name and was released. Huffstickler said Artis-Payne was in jail for about 30 minutes. Panthers spokesman Steven Drummond confirmed the arrest but did not provide any additional comment. Artis-Payne averaged 4.1 yards a carry as a rookie last season.
