The Facts: The Broncos may not know who their starting quarterback will be come September, but whoever is throwing the passes should benefit from having Thomas on the receiving end. That wasn't always the case in 2015. Thomas caught 105 passes for 1,304 yards last season, but had issues with drops all year and saw his production drop in the postseason as he only caught 7-of-21 balls thrown his way. "For sure the worst of my past four years," Thomas said. "And mainly with drops. I had a lot of drops I could have made plays on. I could have had a totally different year from that."
Diehards Line:
Thomas missed offseason work last year while working toward the long-term contract he eventually signed in July and his absence kept him from working in the offense new coach Gary Kubiak was installing. He also said he had his mother’s impending release from prison on his mind and that being able to focus on only football will “be a big difference” in his preparation for next season. Of course, as PFT's Josh Alper notes, the 105 catches that Thomas had would be seen as anything but the worst for most receivers, so it’s not like he’s trying to rebound from a disastrous season. Should he clean up the drops and the Broncos find solid play at quarterback, going from worst to best probably isn’t out of the question for Thomas.
