The Facts: Following up on the previous item. ... The Texans have exercised the fifth-year option for the 2017 season on Hopkins.
Diehards Line:
Hopkins was the 27th overall selection in the 2013 draft. Unless he signs a long-term extension before 2017, Hopkins will make $7.915 million that season. Hopkins had a breakout season for the Texans in 2015 with 111 catches for 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2015 and earned second-team All-Pro honors. In three NFL seasons, he has 239 catches for 3,533 yards and 19 TDs, so the Texans' decision to exercise the option wasn't difficult. Expect Hopkins to continue to produce at a high level with Brock Osweiler -- hopefully -- providing the kind of stability at QB that Hopkins has somehow excelled without since his arrival in Houston.
