The Facts: Hyde seems to have recovered from foot surgery. The RB's Miami, Fla.-based trainer recently posted a reel of Hyde and 49ers teammate Bruce Ellington going through drills and both players look ready for the team's offseason program, which begins April 4. The clip shows Hyde, who had surgery in December to repair a stress fracture in his left foot, weaving through cones, hopping over hurdles and looking perhaps a little slimmer than the 235 pounds at which he was listed last year.
Diehards Line:
The 49ers finished 31st in the NFL in total offense last season. The main reason they expect to improve in 2016 is new HC Chip Kelly, whose up-tempo style should breathe new life into the moribund unit. Another reason for optimism is Hyde, who rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 1 game in which he was not dealing with any injuries. That suggests a healthy Hyde would have had a big impact on the 49ers’ offense last season and that he will do so this season if he can avoid injuries. Chip Kelly’s Philadelphia Eagles offenses finished fourth, seventh and 11th in the league in rushing attempts over the last three seasons, meaning Hyde is certain to get a lot of carries this year.
